I interrupt this program...

...for a very special announcement.

I am in love with two very special people.

One of these very special people is my brother.

And the other just happens to be his FIANCÉE!

Did I mention I love them?

This weekend, my brother proposed to his sweetheart and we are all overjoyed. I can hardly stand it really. They are so wonderful together, I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for the rest of their life!

Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. {Psalm 36:5}

Father Dearest

>> Friday, October 29, 2010

Right now, I should've been at Busch Gardens with friends (two of whom are getting married in one week!), but instead I am home with a slight cold with my dad who is home relaxing on his birthday!
You're all probably wondering why I would've left my father on his birthday.  It's because he doesn't mind.  That's just the kind of man he is.  Very easy going and chill about things.  This can either be good... or bad! As we're getting ready to go on a trip and we have a million things to do, he's totally relaxed and calm about everything and mom and I are trying to get all our ducks in a row! He's not a worry wart, or a busybody; he has the peace of God.  I'm so thankful for him, and can't imagine life without a father!

{Celebrating his birthday last year}

Love you dad!!

Blessed are the people to whom such blessings fall! Blessed are the people whose God is the LORD! {Psalm 144:15}

Thursday, October 21st

We met up with the Brewers on Thursday and we ladies went to an apple orchard! We didn't stay long, but I enjoyed seeing it :)

Yum :)

Isn't he cute?

It was very pretty

A fallen apple

After the orchard, we headed back to their house and enjoyed some great fellowship for the rest of the evening (the Hopes joined us shortly after we got home)!

Friday, October 22nd

Then Friday morning we wanted to teach the girls how to knit, so we had a little knitting circle going on, and it was a lot of fun!

Our little knitting circle! :)

Bethany and Alyssa

We had a really wonderful time at the Brewers and are very thankful for their warm hospitality! It was a nice treat to be able to stop by. Once we left, we realized that we forgot to see the baby quail! Oh well, I guess we'll just have to come back soon ;)

We left the Brewers around noon and headed north to Morton for the Reformation Day Faire! Here's a bunch of photos for you :)

{Thank you Brewer Family!!!}

The stained glass windows in the church were beautiful.

The newest sets of paper dolls from Noble Rose Press!

A mother and daughters looking at the new paper dolls.

The beautiful sign for the special conference price.

The Charlie Zahm concert!

Saturday, October 22nd

Charlie Zahm played for us again Saturday noontime.

This little girl was so precious and verbal! It was so much fun talking to her :)

There were some beautiful costumes!

Boys and swords ;)

When some friends and I went out to the parking lot to get some things out of the car, we met Paula, who was so kind to demonstrate and explain all of the ins and outs of a bagpipe! The thing I remember most is that the drones (the wood pieces sticking up) are made of African Blackwood which typically is seasoned for a very long time before being worked on! Neat, right?

The beautiful Miss Lauren

The Highland Games

Boffer wars!

Wounded warrior ;)

Taking a break ;)

Sweet Megan watching the ladies cook inside :)

Hope you enjoyed the photos!  I've got more from the rest of the trip to post, but I think they'll have to wait until we're home :)

Great are the works of the LORD, studied by all who delight in them. Full of splendor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever. He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and merciful. {Psalm 111:2-4}

This sweet lady was so kind to show us all about how a bagpipe works. It was really neat to see how complex this instrument is!

More coming soon!

October Trip 2010 {Days 1 & 2}

Tuesday, October 19th

We got to the station just in time for our train... if it hadn’t been late. ;)
It was about 30 minutes late, which was really a blessing since time seemed to slip away from us as we were getting ready. We got on, settled in, and finally got to relax.

I didn’t take many pictures leaving, but we did see a teeny smidge of color at the station! :)

Wednesday, October 20th

Yesterday, we walked all around DC, and I was whipped!

First we walked to the Washington Monument and I took some pictures. Then we walked down to the WWII memorial and I took some pictures. Then we walked to the Lincoln Memorial and I took some pictures. Then we walked back to the National Museum of Natural History... and I took some pictures. So what did I do yesterday? Walk around DC and take pictures. Yes! :D
I’d say the temps were between 55 and 60 all day, and it was very foggy. Made photographing a little bit of a pain, but I was so pleased with how cold it was. I was a little chilly as we walked back in sprinkling rain, but it was very light and our walk was only about 20 minutes.
I really enjoyed the museum, and now wonder why I don’t go to museums more often!

Here are some photo highlights from the day :) Since the weather was a bit drab, I decided to make a lot of these black and white.  Enjoy!

Mother dear :) Happy birthday!

Random fact about Me?

I love hippos.

This one’s for Jean Marie. We like to catch jelly fish at the beach. - Moon jellies of course, not the stinging kind :) -

We got in to Chicago this morning, and we are going to the Brewer’s (our hospitable friends :) to stay overnight. Then we’ll leave their house tomorrow for the Reformation Day Faire!
I’m not sure when I’ll post again, but hopefully it will be soon!
