I have a wonderful friend named Jean Marie.
A few days ago she posted about a normal day in the life of her family. She posted a slideshow of photos
from her day and wrote this about it:
"Here's the slideshow of the day .... I took a break from ART, and just shot whatever I wanted! I can't
tell you how good of a break that is sometimes....just stop thinking and SHOOT."
That got me thinking. And then I commented...
"I utterly enjoyed your slideshow. Sometimes shooting whatever suits your fancy is so much better than
worrying about whether or not the photo is "beautiful" or "artistic" :) I'm sure there are many times
when I should've posted a picture of something or someone I love, but I didn't because I wasn't
impressed with it or I was embarrassed by it... well shame on me! Good reminder to enjoy the little
things in life. My journal is filled up with the little things in life, why not my pictures too?"
And then I thought some more (...any of my sarcastic friends would find this frightening).
What if I challenged myself to take pictures of almost everything I do? Document the little things, just for
a week. Not worrying about the quality of the photo. Not thinking about if anyone else will like it. Just
shooting. Doesn't mean they can't be nice photos and no one else is allowed to enjoy them... just not
thinking about it for a change.
So here's the plan. Lord willing, every day this week I will post random photos from my day. Taking
time to notice and thank God for all the blessings He has given me!
Sound good? I think so. We'll see how it goes... stay tuned tonight through Saturday if you're interested!
