It's Smokey Out There

>> Wednesday, June 1, 2011

Dad was on duty yesterday, but he was able to stop by the house briefly on his way back from a fire north of us.
You could smell the smoke as his truck was pulling up, it was so strong.

This morning, Mom and I walked outside and the smoke is just sitting in the air.
The pictures don't quite do justice, but you can get an idea (especially when compared to the above photos).

Dad's home now - thankfully, taking a break.  The smell of smoke just exudes from him.  I think he's going
to take a shower and then we're headed to our favorite Japanese restaurant for lunch!  Lately, I have been
craving it so much, and since we all love it we thought we'd take Dad for a little reward for all his hard work.

Please keep the fires, firefighters, locals, and rain in your prayers for us!  When I was taking the smokey
pictures, I thought I felt one rain drop... but I've heard more thunder than I want to hear.  Thunder means
lightning, lightning means fire, no rain means happy fire... which means unhappy firefighters.

Also, today is the first day of Hurricane Season (yes, we actually do have 4 seasons here: Fire Season,
Hurricane Season, Hunting Season, and Summer).  I heard that this year might be an intense one - but only
God knows, so I'll just keep my trust in Him :)

Thank you for the prayers!  They are truly, truly appreciated.
Emily

Behold, these are but the outskirts of his ways, and how small a whisper do we hear of him!
But the thunder of his power who can understand?
{Job 26:14}

P.S. I'll be posting 'Memorial Sunday' pictures soon :)

{EDIT: Rain Update!}

Wow, I can't even imagine what it would be like to live somewhere where you would have to worry about wildfires!

Praying for rain!
