What a Friend We Have in Jesus

>> Sunday, February 27, 2011

What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield you; you will find a solace there.

Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised Thou wilt all our burdens bear
May we ever, Lord, be bringing all to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright unclouded there will be no need for prayer
Rapture, praise and endless worship will be our sweet portion there.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

...and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.
{Psalm 50:15}

Ashlynn Liberty

First, go see this photo I posted on Six Angles yesterday.

And now, may I introduce to you, Miss Ashlynn Liberty! One of the most precious little ladies I've ever held.

Take a look...

She has lots of (adopted) Aunties to love on her :)

Her wonderful parents...

*so sweet!*

Isn't she just beautiful?

"frog!"
:D

A very happy Grandmother...

Mom got a few shots of me with Miss Ashlynn.  She is such a joy and fills my heart to overflowing.

*squeals with delight*

Fun & Games

>> Tuesday, February 22, 2011

The wedding is in... 11 Days!

A little over a week ago we got together with a couple of families, and the 'young folk' played games,
had fun, and got our full dose of laughter for the week...

This was my first time playing Risk (I was red). I really enjoyed it, but we didn't finish it. After almost
2 hours, we all decided we should move on to another game.
{In case you're wondering, I ended up being the 'winner' with the most men and territories - I was pretty surprised actually}

After quitting Risk, we played Spoons. Have you ever played Spoons? If you're into fast-paced
card games, then you'd love it. Our hands were shaking with adrenaline!

It got pretty intense. This is Lane, laughing at our friends who were competing (a.k.a. wrestling) for the
last spoon. This is that poor last spoon. And poor Mrs. B. was sitting in the other room watching her
spoons take on a new shape.

Here, Boaz watches the end of a round between his brother and sister.

Games really are a lot of fun, and a great way to spend time with family and friends!

I hope and pray you all have a fun-filled week!

Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among
the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them."
{Psalm 126:2}

Here are two photos from a Christmas quite a while before me...

Yours truly, some time in '93 at a friend's house in Tuxedo Park, NY

Here's Cody at Nana and Pop Pop's house ('94?) holding one of my favorite stuffed animals - ever.
We would play with that dog and Nana's laundry baskets all the time.

This is My Father's World

>> Sunday, February 20, 2011

This is my Father's world,
and to my listening ears
all nature sings, and round me rings
the music of the spheres.
This is my Father's world:
I rest me in the thought
of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
his hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father's world,
the birds their carols raise,
the morning light, the lily white,
declare their maker's praise.
This is my Father's world:
he shines in all that's fair;
in the rustling grass I hear him pass;
he speaks to me everywhere.

This is my Father's world.
O let me ne'er forget
that though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father's world:
why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King; let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let the earth be glad!

The wedding is in... 15 Days!

I'll do a couple different posts with old photos leading up to the wedding.
Here are a few for now...

Working with the men (See Cody on the right there?  How cute!)
If you're not from here, you probably wouldn't understand, but this was at the Settlement (Barberville) back in '93!

And here I am, same day.  Look at me - all smiley and rolly :D

I'm not sure when this was (before me), but I thought Dad looked great, and Cody's just adorable.  They're on some kind of train ride.
Cody and Dad have both loved trains all their lives.  Cody was a total Thomas fanatic :)

Cody & Tricia's Wedding: Bridal Shower Invites

>> Thursday, February 17, 2011

We found the cutest stationery for Tricia's bridal shower invitations!

Since Tricia isn't from our town, we decided to have a bridal shower for her up here so that her new friends from our area
don't have to travel so far.  We went to her first one in her area last weekend, and we're having her second one up here next week.

Wedding planning and preparations are in full swing!  We're down to 16 days until the wedding!!!  It's hard to
believe that my brother is getting married in just over 2 weeks.  *takes a trip down memory lane*
I think I'll have to post some old photos soon... :)

For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints.
Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path;
for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;
discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard you,
delivering you from the way of evil...
{Proverbs 2:6-12a}

On a completely different note:
I have got this song stuck in my head.
It's rather amusing actually... and so is this video.

Love

Love is patient and kind;
love does not envy or boast;
it is not arrogant or rude.
It does not insist on its own way;
it is not irritable or resentful;
it does not rejoice at wrongdoing,
but rejoices with the truth.
Love bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.

Love never ends...

Frozen Deliciousness

>> Sunday, February 6, 2011

We had ice cream and apple crisp after church today.
Luke, Providence and I opted for ice cream only.
Little Luke was having trouble breaking it apart to get a small bite, so I was helping him out.
When he was almost finished he goes "Emmy, we're eatin' ice cream together!"

How cute is he?

...and little Miss Provy there :)

Once finished, he so joyously put his bowl and spoon with mine and skipped away... hahaha, he's great.

I'm so thankful for small happy moments like these.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers,
that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a
spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him, having the eyes
of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which
He has called you, what are the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints,
and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power toward us who believe,
according to the working of His great might that He worked in Christ
when He raised him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in
the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion,
and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one
to come. And He put all things under His feet and gave Him as head over all
things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
{Ephesians 1:16-23}

Sorry about the photos!

>> Wednesday, February 2, 2011

Evidently, I have used up my 10GB of bandwidth per month on photobucket,
and my photo links have been deactivated until February 7th when I can
start uploading again.  Please be patient with me until then!
I guess January really was a full month :)

EDIT: Problem solved!  Now we can see the photos again :)
I really didn't want to spend $25 for a pro account on photobucket, but I knew I would
be using a lot of bandwidth with all of the wedding festivities coming up.
So I started searching it a bit, and they have some neat deals where you buy something
from one of their partners, and you get the pro account for 1 year, free!
I found a bag at Old Navy that I really liked (on sale, of course) and ordered that,
thus getting 1 year of pro free!  Woohoo, deals!  Thought I would share
this with all of you photo enthusiasts... who may post way too many photos...
like me...

January Catch Up Post: #4

Quick note:  As I was writing this, I realized that I'm not going to have a ton of time over the next 31 days to be blogging, so please forgive my sporadic posting!  Wedding festivities and prep are going to be taking priority over blogging for a little while.

Ok, here we've come to my birthday celebration (the last of my catch up posts)! I haven't had a birthday party in a few years... and I love go-karting... and I love my friends! So? Why not put them all together!?

I really had a blast go-karting with my friends. When we got there, I think I saw 3 people racing... and then they left. Which means we had the place to ourselves!

I brought my camera thinking maybe I'll get it out and take a few shots... but then mom got it out, and I think we got plenty of good pictures! :) Enjoy!

Miss Darby racing around the track...

Hey, it's me!

Cute Kailynn :)

Sweet Jenna and Shannon

After a slight mishap where Darby's brakes decided not to work, and Jean & I got a little whiplash :/  We forgave Darby... but not the car... ;)

Hardcore.

*click*

Zach was holding her under the umbrella table, and she kept pointing at the top... we finally realized there was a wasp nest up there. O.o

"What's up?" ;D

As you can see from Abby's face, some of the races got a little intense.

These three people are epic, and way at the top of my "favorite people" list... or at least they would be if I had one.

We decided Cody is a robot.

"Hi!"

Eating one of the (amazing) cupcakes I made!  I don't say amazing because I made them, but because the recipe was fantastic, and I got it from Jan at Just Imagine Heaven.  She posted about it the day after my birthday - perfect timing, especially since Red Velvet is my favorite!  Thank you!!

Some of the ladies...

I think pretty much all of the ladies!
(Mom apologizes for this being out of focus - she's still new to my new camera.  But it was too cute not to post :)

:D

My amazing adopted brother and sister.  Yep.  Amazing.

Gracious, precious sister.
