"This is Bob. Bob says hi....." (It's an inside joke - and if that didn't make her laugh, I don't know what will, haha!)
This is a HAPPY BIRTHDAY post for Jean Marie. A dear, sweet friend.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Oh Jean Marie...
{Jean and I, Strawberry Festival 2010 - picture stolen from her}
What to say about a person who almost literally lights up the room when she enters?
{Jamboree 2010}
A girl who makes ridiculous faces with me?
{Me and Jean, Jamboree 2010 - stolen from her}
She loves going to the fair... not to mention fair bokeh - *swoon*
She's patient when her friends ride crazy rides and is gracious and sweet in holding our things.
{County Fair, November 2010}
She loves her friends dearly... both near and far.
{Sadie Beth, Jean Marie, Me, and Lauren... November 26th, day after Thanksgiving 2010}
She also gets in trouble now and then.
Hey, at least we didn't know we were getting in trouble!
I was taking pictures with Jean and Lauren in Publix one day, and one of the employees
told me I needed to stop. At first we thought he was kidding... and then we realized he wasn't.
He explained and it was all good, but we still get a kick out of it!
Actually. It sounds like it was really me that got in trouble. That doesn't surprise me.
{Lauren and Jean at Publix, January 2011}
She's secretly a Wild Crazy Professional African Safari Photographer.
{Out on the "Savannah" January 2011}
She has friends that love her dearly, no matter what, through thick and thin.
{Lauren, Me, Jean}
{Lauren, Jean, Joseph}
Oh yeah... she's also gorgeous.
Just thought I'd mention that.
{Laying in the tall "Savannah" grass}
She loves to DANCE! We all love to dance!
Twirling, spinning, jumping, stomping, clapping, swinging...
How can one blame her?
{At a contra dance, January 2011}
She also loves her Tricia.
{Tricia and Jean}
I forgot to mention she's my sister.
Well not really.
But those words around the edge of the picture down there make it so.
T. Sweets and Oot are our nicknames for each other with a hilarious story that
shall never be shared.
Train Mouse is the face we make when we feel silly or something awkward happens.
Boogie boarding is what we do in the ocean when there are gnarly waves.
Go-karting is something we enjoy, especially when we get the double seater kart that
goes 1/2 mph and we sing Danny Boy all the way around the track.
Squid. I won't eat it.
Maps. Stay in the back of the seat.
Late night beach walks bring much joy, tons of laughter, and great memories.
"Some one, somewhere, is not wearing a shirt. Sir! We found your shirt!"
Prayers are continually coming from our hearts.
Hysterical laughter is often shared when together. Ok, it's rarely not shared.
G-Chat is very wonderful and great for quick "hello's" or long chats.
Dancing... well, I already covered that. We love it!
Photography might be something neither of us could live without. Actually, we
could, but we really love it... like, a lot.
Forgiven sinners, that's what we are. Only by the grace of God. SISTERS. See? I told you. We're sisters.
{Jean and I go-karting for my birthday, January 2011}
Gabe and I are her brother and sister.
We had an awesome birthday celebration for her last year, just the three of us.
Here, we reenacted our failed jumping photos.
{Thanks, Mom, for taking these! January 2011}
She's really good at making new friends.
{Tricia, Jean Marie and Becca at Tricia's bridal shower, February 2011}
We love to chase the sunset.
{March 2011}
She loves strawberries, and friends, and fair bokeh... oh wait, I already mentioned that.
{Strawberry Festival, 2011 - stolen from her}

{April 2011}
She loves seafood, water, and funny enough, she loves my family!
My family loves her too :)
And even though she likes food, some food gets rejected.
Like Joey, the reject onion.
Poor Joey.
*laughs*
I mean...
*wipes tear*
So basically... she's amazing.
Jean Marie, I want you to know that you are a huge blessing to me.
Thank you for praying for me, laughing with me, singing with me, and just
being there for me. I am so thankful for you! I can't imagine what my
life would be like if God hadn't seen fit to cross our paths. I'm so thankful for
a Saviour who knows exactly what we need, especially in friendships.
I pray the Lord's richest blessings for you today, this year, and always. May
you always seek Him in everything, and above all, seek to glorify Him in
the way you live your life... for Him!
Bushels of love,
Emily

Here are some pictures from our Father's Day celebrations.
My Dad couldn't be at church on Sunday because he had to work (fire season is crazy), but we
celebrated with him and our family on Tuesday getting him an ice cream maker at Tractor Supply
and eating at my Granddad's favorite Mexican restaurant.

Carrot cake is Dad's favorite
I'm not really a fan of it, but I enjoyed this one!
Best Ever Carrot Cake
2 cups sugar (I used 1 cup sugar, 1 cup sucanat)
1 cup vegetable oil
Cream these together well. Add
4 eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Add:
2 cups grated carrots
Combine:
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon (I don't like cinnamon too much so I just sprinkled enough to taste it)
1/2 cup of ground walnuts
Add to the egg mixture and mix well.
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan or a 13x9-inch baking pan (I used 13x9-inch).
Pour batter into pan and bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into center of cake comes out clean.
(I used convect at 325°F for 50 minutes and it was done)
